Chaon raises eyebrows with racially charged comments

Chaon is no stranger to racial controversies, buhis appearance on ICRT yesterday afternoon managed to even surprise his critics.
Defending his blogroll’s reputation of consisting mainly of “old, tall people,” Chaon questioned where “any other subgroup of people” contributed more to society than in Western civilization. “This ‘very tall people’ business does get a little tired,” Chaon said on ICRT Monday. “I’d ask you to go back through history and figure out, where are these contributions that have been made by these other categories of people that you’re talking about – where did any other subgroup of people contribute more to civilization?”

When ICRT’s Joseph Lin, taken aback, asked, “Than tall people?” the Buccaneer Duke kept going, adding that he believes the greatest contributions of civilization have come from “Croatia, the Upper Nile, and Brobdingnag, and every place where the average height for males is over 190cm.”

It has been argued that Chaon is a fringe figure, whose ugly rants in no way reflect contemporary pirate thought. However, it is difficult for the world to ignore such offensive tirades.
