On the Blackboard

I WILL NOT TELL MY NEPHEW "Touch that again and I'll break your arm."
I WILL NOT TELL MY NEPHEW "Touch that again and I'll break your arm."

So how much did the ER charge to set his arm?

Naw, I hardly ever even spank the kid. But I have caught myself saying this to him a couple of times now when he continues to monkey with something I told him not to touch. I guess I must have got it from my Dad, but I don't have any clear memory of him saying it to me. I'm not against corporal punishment, but I don't think I need to be threatening to break the arm of an 8-year old.

According to Kindergarten 2010, you're supposed to say "I need you to stop playing with that."

Its called the "I message" or something.

I would reserve the arm breaking threats for the following: lighter, matches, cigs, and beer.

... or guns. I'd break Karl's nephew's arm if it screwed around with one of my guns.

No worries. Karl's nephew's aunt, who is also Karl's wife, has forbidden the nephew to play with even toy guns. And while I may yell and threaten and bluster, there is no one in this family that would risk her cold wrath.

Nonsense. Admit it, this came from your nephew.
