History of ISO 9000

"The history of ISO 9000 dates back to Mil-Q-9858a, the first quality standard for military procurement established in 1959 by the US."

If that is true, then I'm calling it the worst crime against humanity ever perpetrated by the U.S. military.

ISO any number sucks.
Why couldn't they have utilized say...Cherry 2000 instead?
