I finished John Dolan's Pleasant Hell yesterday. It was interesting to see some of the origins of the guy who writes as the War Nerd, but it was mostly just painful. If you are reading this Mr. Dolan, let me remind you that most of us need those petty lies and illusions that you so viscerally eschew. So next time, give your protagonist some of that Hollywood style faux redemption. At least a hint of hope or transformation or something, even if it is fake.
