Congratulations! Hopefully this result means that any laws that get passed and then not vetoed will be damn good ones.
Oh, and you do not want a neck beard, dude. Word from the wise.

Hell yeah. But now that the Dems are in, a nifty Lenin goatee will look great. I think I'll have to shave.
GOoooooooooooo Dems! Impeach the Shrub!
Michael
I'll agree to impeaching the president for this damn fool war mess, as long as we impeach every single senator that voted for the war at the same time. Kerry, Clinton, the lot of 'em.
I dearly hope the Dems choose to spend two years on hearings and impeachment since it means they will lose it all in 2008 for sure. Karl is exactly right.
We could take George Tenet out and shoot him as a good first step. (Keeping in line with the shooting people compromise Karl and I agreed on.)
No no no. We shoot people for crapping on Democracy. Our institutions are shaky enough without asshats screwing them up.
Guys like Tenet and Rumsfeld only utterly failed to do their job. They just get fired.

That'd be great, wouldn't it? But we have to put up with those shits until we can move them all out of office sometime. But for now, I'll settle for Bush and Cheney impeached and sent before the International Criminal Court in Rome. Oh, and that shit Rumsfeld too.
A long, sick mess has to be cleaned up in DC. This was only the first step.

Sez who? I think, if we are going to hold people responsible for fuckups, then we hold them responsible across the board. I'm not buying this 'I voted for the war because the president lied to me' schtick. They knew the president might be a dumbass, and if you get tricked by a dumbass then it's your own damn fault.
Actually, I'm not even sure if senators can be impeached. Brought up on high crimes and misdemeanors charges or something? At any rate, I'd like to see Kerry brought before the International Court of Having Pissed Karl Off in Taichung. No peace, no justice. And all that good stuff.
Hey, it's Thursday. Budweiser night.

It's not that simple. Remember the mysterious anthrax attacks that appeared before key votes in Congressional offices? Congress was lied to, bullied, and bamboozled -- of course there were plenty who knew better but voted in favor of that criminal war anyway.
Also, you CAN impeach a Senator. See case of Wm Blount.

Q: What is the difference between Vietnam and Iraq?
A: Bush had a plan to get out of Vietnam.

I guess Operation Desert Fox was another case of being lied to and bamboozled...are we going to hold those people responsible for their "lies" as well. Jesus, by Turton logic Tenet "lied" to two different administrations - he must be a friggin' Al Qaeda agent.
Karl, I'm in full agreement with you here. I hope your way of thinking will prevail for the Dems, because then it means we are back to a serious two party system with both sides being competitive. (God knows both parties need to purge some of their elements.)
Sorry Michael, I'm going to remain strong (and probably stubborn) in my position. My guys got lied to, bullied and bamboozled by a bunch of incompetents who were playing fast and loose with questionable information. They (the Dems) should have known better. They should have gone to the library and read half a dozen books on the history and social makeup of Iraq that and figured out that the occupation was going to be problematic, WMD's or no.
By the same token, I should have read some of those books myself. But I am safe in the knowledge that you definitely cannot impeach Drunk Loudmouth Guy at the Bar.

With non sequitors like this, no wonder you are a Republican. I have never commented on the First Gulf War, and don't believe it was a setup. It has nothing to do with my beliefs about this second war, which was totally a set-up from the get-go.

Look, I totally agree. I was against this war from the start, knew the history, knew the occupation would be disaster, just as almost all of our occupations have been. But the Establishment Dems, while a serious problem, the President , Veep, and Rummy are all out-and-out criminals. If you can figure out a way to impeach everyone, then go for it. otherwise, you take what you can get. Hopefully we'll see Rummy et al before an international criminal court.
