progeny

I don't have kids, and haven't planned on having any. The risk of my children taking after their mother is too great- and the prospect of eighteen years in battle with flying and shuriken-throwing rapscallions tires me.

I was pretty sure that there was no combination of factors that could lead me to change my views on this. But this morning, I found out that a friend from high school named his son Elric.

...

Elric.

...

As in Elric of Melniboné

...

whose sword was named Stormbringer.

...

the sword that feeds upon the souls of those it kills.

...

I'm going to tell my wife to get ready, 'cause we got a lotta catching up to do. I'll also need to buy a bigger house, one that has enough room for us and our two sons: Dilvish and Thorin, and our daughter Tenar.

That's it, then. I'm telling Amy, and she will get on Skype tonight and spread the news among the family. You will spend the next long time digging yourself out from this joke...

I could have sworn you'd name your son "Froderic"

Who is Froderic?

Froderic Frahnkenstine

(Marty Feldman as Igor in Young Frankenstein)

Is that Frahnken-"shteen" or Frahnken-"shtine"? :)
