Taichung Chess

There will be a chess tournament in Taichung on October 22. Time controls are 25 min +5 sec/move. It will be held at the Le Ye Elementary School. Registration deadline is Oct. 18. Registration fee is NT$350, and includes biandang lunch.

If you have limited experience playing chess, with only the dimmest comprehension of openings and tactics, then I warmly invite you to come participate in the tournament. If you are a skilled player with excellent strategy, then I think that would be a good weekend for you to go to Kenting, or maybe go hiking in the mountains. I'll have a hard enough day trying to figure out how to sneak a win over Laughingbuddha.

E-mail me for registration info.

Somewhere behind the train station.

Thanks. I know where it is now. Fuhsing Rd turns into Le Ye Rd on the way out to Taiping. I'd come, but I don't see how you could beat LaughingBuddha after the shock of losing to me.

I don't see how I'm going to beat him at any rate. Maybe you and all the ChaoYang professors can go out together Sat. night and get him totally loaded? Nobody plays chess well with a hangover... I'll finance the tequila shota.
