Inter-tubes

A lot of brew-heh-heh has been made over the last couple of day about U.S. Senator Ted Stevens' remarks about how the internet is put together. Covered on Boing Boing, Wired Blog, and even ESWN, Senator Stevens is alleged to have said, among other things:
They want to deliver vast amounts of information over the internet. And again, the internet is not something you just dump something on. It's not a truck.

It's a series of tubes.
(Emphasis mine)

Now, a lot of you out there might laugh at that, but that's only because you do not have the high degree of technical sophistication that we have achieved here at Chewin in the Chung. In fact, the internet is EXACTLY like a series of tubes. Please refer to the educational diagram below for further clarification on how the internet is put together:

So you all need to send Senator Stevens an internet and apologize.

He's just being quoted out of context.

Context: some old rich politician trying to explain something he doesn't understand to other old rich politicians. (sorry Barrack Obama, you're not old or rich yet, but it will happen.)

I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.

I just checked and this dude is 83 years old! I'm not sure whether that means his comments are "pretty good for a senile old man" or "why do we let senile old men become senators?"

p.s. I was being sarcastic about "being quoted out of context."
