Wrecks

The Story of Oedipus, as seen by... a modern student? I don't know. (bad language, postmodern interpretation of Greek classic)

=============================================================

News related- My long-lapsed NRA certification as a smallbore riflery instructor has never been particularly useful or relevant in my life, but today it affords me the opportunity to offer some pertinent advice to the vice-president of the United States.

Mr. Cheney, the fundamental rules for safe gun handling are:
1. Always keep the gun pointed in a safe direction.
2. Always keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.
3. Always keep the gun unloaded until ready to use.

Other relevant NRA gun rules are:
Know your target and what is beyond.
Know how to use the gun safely.
Never use alcohol or over-the-counter, prescription or other drugs before or while shooting.

Actually from one version I've seen, it sounds like the rule violated was to not engage birds that fly behind the hunter.

I don't even know that rule. I went quail hunting in Illinois once, and froze my Floridian ass off. Didn't get any quail either.

I prefer the instinctive thrill of deer hunting. Climbing into a tree stand at 4:00AM. The primal challenge of taking a buck with just a gun and my hunting skill. Well and also binoculars, a book, maybe a sandwich or two, a blanket, thermos of coffee, a roll of camo tape, and a deer call that I don't know how to use.

After about ten minutes I'll fall asleep in the tree stand, and drop my gun barrel-first into the mud below. Wake up about 9:00AM, retrieve gun, and head back to camp to drink beer for the rest of the day.

Best hunting there is.
