Cage Un Chicken
Where can I buy shallots in Taiwan? I need them for the bearnaise sauce, which I need to make Chicken Pontalba. This is the problem with starting to cook stuff at the age of 38. You have to learn all this stuff that everybody else has already known for years. Look at the Pontalba recipe: "Water for poaching". I would be more comfortable poaching with a shotgun, to tell the truth. I mean, if I ever poached. Which I never have. So I'll have to learn to poach the chicken with water, which I suppose means sneaking onto a farm and drowning a few. Well, if that's what it takes, I'm up for it. Which way is the chicken farm?

Since no one is answering this, I suggest you call J-hole. He has bought shallots here before - they are a kind of garlic, no?
Accroding to the link, they are a member of the onion family. Like I said, I'm new at this, so that's all I know.
When I had them at J-hole's house they were exactly like a cross between garlic and onions.
Maybe you and J-hol;e could get a dinner party going.
