Is the appointment of Chaplains to the two Houses of Congress consistent with the Constitution, and with the pure principle of religious freedom? In strictness the answer on both points must be in the negative. The Constitution of the United States forbids everything like an establishment of a national religion. The law appointing Chaplains establishes a religious worship for the national representatives, to be performed by Ministers of religion, elected by a majority of them, and these are to be paid out of the national taxes.
Is there no end to the spewing of left-wing moonbats like this? Clearly the author of that quote has no understanding of the founding principles on which the United States of America was founded. America is a Christian Nation, and if you don't believe me just go ask the Texas Republicans. Or Lt. Gen. William G. "Jerry" Boykin. And General Boykin is a Lieutenant General, which is higher up than even a Major General or a Brigadier General, even though Brigadier sounds so much cooler than Lieutenant.
