Backinaction...

... Sort of.

Returned from Germany, where I froze my ass off and paid 72 Euros for a cast iron skillet. I am mentally composing a long piece wherein I shall convince Michael Turton to reconsider his atheism. Obviously this will require some doing.

In the meantime, view this link I hastily copied from Reddit:
What the fuck is that, an outdoor fireplace?
and despair

You bought a German skillet?

Why?

Couldn't find one here, even after combing through the specialty restaurant supply places. All the pans here are real thin, which causes me trouble in controlling the actual cooking temperature on a gas stove. I'd have bought a cast iron dutch oven while I was there as well, except that I'd probably need a second mortgage on my house to afford one.

We got a cast iron dutch oven at Costco... they might have frying pans. Think i saw those at Hola... Probably best if you don't know that though...

Well, the Berliners need the money to pay for their new train station anyway. How much was the Dutch Oven at Costco?

I think it was 3000 the wife thinks 2000, somewhere around/between there. Haven't used it yet, wife wants to make bread in it? I'm eager for her to try...

You're sure it was cast iron? I have looked in the cookware section at Costco every trip, and all I ever saw was steel.

On another note, a part of me is very, very sad that I take pleasure in discussing and acquiring pots and pans for cooking. Dude, we're not even 50 yet.
