Red

I received the following E-mail this morning:

Red on Fridays

Very soon, you will see a great many people wearing Red every Friday. The reason?

Americans who support our troops used to be called the "silent majority". We are no longer silent, and are voicing our love for God, country and home in record breaking numbers.

We are not organized, boisterous or over-bearing. We get no liberal media coverage on TV, to reflect our message or our opinions. Many Americans, like you, me and all our friends, simply want to recognize that the vast majority of America supports our troops.

Our idea of showing solidarity and support for our troops with dignity and respect starts this Friday -and continues each and every Friday until the troops all come home, sending a deafening message that..

Every red-blooded American who supports our men and women afar, will wear something red.

By word of mouth, press, TV -- let's make the United States on every Friday a sea of red much like a homecoming football game in the bleachers.

If every one of us who loves this country will share this with acquaintances, co-workers, friends, and family. It will not be long before the USA is covered in RED and it will let our troops know the once "silent" majority is on their side more than ever, certainly more than the media lets on.

The first thing a soldier says when asked "What can we do to make things better for you?" is...We need your support and your prayers.

Let's get the word out and lead with class and dignity, by example; and wear something red every Friday.

I sent this out to everyone on my email list. Will you?

WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, ONLY BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE.

THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED-WEAR RED!

MOST OF ALL - GOD BLESS AMERICA

I've been reading some war books lately about Afghanistan, etc., and it looks like a tough gig in general to be in the armed forces (see Karl for an example of the pyschological toll.)

So yeah, I think if I can wear Monday Night Football underwear for Monday Night Football, I could wear red on Friday.

p.s. If I don't wear red, do I get pinched or something?

p.s.s. The Economist reports that after 2 years of foot dragging (their words) European peacekeepers will join peacekeeping and counterinsurgency operations in southern Afghanistan. I assume this means the insurgency will dry up in minutes, the drug lords will surrender, and low rider jeans will be available in the markets once they get there. (except Germans, French, Italians, and Spanish refuse to go into the southern areasm but the Dutch will go...)

p.s.s.s. Sorry for not telling you I could not make it to A&A...I thought I could at first...

Red A- I thought it was only for the silent majority? I don't know you well but really doubt you are silent.

Red, should've come last night. We had plenty of fun.

Why do you say things like that? Do you think that people anywhere actually think this? Or what?

I'm pretty sure that wearing pink means you support just the U.S. Navy...

Michael,

Hyperbole mainly.

If US counter-insurgency is constantly critiqued as being counter-productive (sorry!) by UK/Dutch, then the opposite should be true, no?

The drug lord/low rider jeans refers to some who keep putting this stuff into articles, etc...."we beat the Taliban but now the drug lords rule..." or "while Afghanistan may have been freed the plight of many Aghan women..."

Yeah, I really, really wanted to play A & A...I could taste it. But I ended up getting home at 8:30...blech. Did you get a taste of the new love-stricken Malv?

Keep me in the loop for future games Karl.

I did, in fact, I met the girl. She's a warm, friendly woman with a great sense of humor, exactly the kind of woman you want to go to Hong Kong for the weekend with, or move in with, or stick a ring on her finger. I was impressed. Great English too.
