Conservatives pride themselves on resisting change, which is as it should be. But intelligent deference to tradition and stability can evolve into intellectual sloth and moral fanaticism, as when conservatives simply decline to look up from dogma because the effort to raise their heads and reconsider is too great.

The above is a famous quotation by me. No, just kidding- I could never pull off a phrase like "intellectual sloth and moral fanaticism", dedicated as I am to profanity and ad hominem arguments. (Speaking of which, Kerry is still a dick)

The quote comes from William F. Buckley Jr., which surprises me on two levels: I didn't know William F. Buckley Jr. was in favor of reforming marijuana laws, and I didn't know William F. Buckley Jr. was still alive. So I am enlightened on two levels, really.

Courtesy of Vicki. Something to make everyone laugh. Especially if you're like me and despise both candidates.
I have great respect for the diversity of opinions and beliefs to be found on the internet, on blogs, boards & personal sites. Since we only find absolute truth in logic and mathematics, healthy debate and expression of different opinions is not only beneficial, but necessary in order to power the dynamic of information exchange that brings us closer to understanding reality.

In spite of this, there are some views that are simply too ridiculous to be countenanced, as they clearly demonstrate that the writer has the mentality of a psychotic paramecium. And in these instances I must speak out for all that is good, just and right...

There is NO WAY IN THE WORLD that Wolverine could beat Colossus in a fight! What the HELL is wrong with people that they could even CONCEIVE such a twisted, utterly stupid idea? Colossus is like, a total badass, and Wolverine is SHORT. And CANADIAN. There should be some kind of internet censor to immediately delete any text anywhere that says Wolverine could beat Colossus, 'cause that's just WRONG.
If you know Canadian Patrick a.k.a. Patty, then you may know that he tends to run his mouth to the point where he gets into situations that he would rather not be in. This was certainly the case Saturday night (early Sunday morning) at Soundgarden, when some big bruiser of an Englishman put his cigarette out on Patrick's skull. A short scuffle ensured, in which Patrick got whomped in the head and Simon of Chubbies fame pinned the bruiser to a pole in less than a second.

So, things I learned Saturday night:
The smell of burning hair and skin is sickening
You do not want to fight Simon
No amount of beatings will convince Patrick to stop talking trash. After the scuffle, he was taunting the guy: "I just took your best shot and I'm still standing!" This seems like an odd thing to say- the equivalent is "You just punched me dead in the face and I am not unconscious". Not an approach I would take, as it seems to be begging for the second, third, and fourth best shot from your opponent.
