I have cropped the picture to show the draw and bracer. The Mongolians use a thumb ring with a spur to hold the bowstring. The index finger holds the end of the thumb. This supposedly gives a very clean string release, though I am betting it takes more practice than a two-finger draw. The thumb ring is the precursor to the modern mechanical release.
