...I didn't have any idea what "blood libel" referred to either. I'm still not how to use it in modern discourse:

Goddammit Turton, you used an exsanguinating chicken to write "Chaon is a huge dork" on the city walls! That's blood libel, that is!

I suppose that's the correct usage.
